Hello all! This is a super simple tunic /dress that I saw at a certain apparel retailer. I really loved it but didn't want to pay the 30 or so dollars they were asking when it looked so simple to make.

So I found this cute pastel print jersey at Beverly's and decided to give it a try.

I was right, it was amazingly easy and fast. Only 4 seams and since it's jersey there's no need to hem! I got the fabric on 4th of July sale for only $2.50, add in the cost of thread and ribbon I bought for a belt and it was a little over $3.00! $3.00! Can you believe it?

Tools needed: Sewing machine, measuring tape or ruler, rotary blade or scissors for cutting, straight pins, and a pen or chalk for marking. Its also helpful to have a cutting mat if you use a rotary blade but when using scissors not necessary.

Fabric: 3/4 to 1 yard of any stretch fabric I like cotton jersey or modal best but really what ever you like. This is really more fabric than you need but I like to leave room for mistakes and who doesn't love remnants!

Instructions:

1+2) measure and cut two lengths of fabric into rectangles 18"W x36"L ( I wear a medium but you can adjust the measurements to fit you)

3)Layer fabric so right sides are facing each other( this means to put the sides you want to show, usually the brighter side on prints, facing each other)

4) pin the fabric about an inch away from the edge. Mark your arm and neck holes, 9" for the arms and 14" for the neck.( this is another spot to make adjustments for your sizing needs)

5) Use your sewing machine to sew the seems together using a stitch appropriate for stretch fabrics. Most machines have a basic zigzag stitch, others have more options. I used an over edge stitch to really reinforce the seams.

Flip it right-side out and your ready to wear it! I like mine with a belt but its also really cute with out. You can also wear this off the shoulder or turn one sleeve inward for a one shoulder look.
